This week was filled with some ups and some downs. I was out and about with “places to go and people to see.” It was nice; being active, out of the house, not thinking all the time about my circumstances.
One incident though gave me a different dose of reality. Exiting the pool after one of my therapy sessions, I had a difficult time finding my balance. This had not happened before. I guess it was the change in pressure or the gravity… but whatever it was, it took me awhile to get back used to my surroundings.
How are you when it comes to adjusting to life’s changes?
When things are good, many times we feel invincible, that life is great and that God is good. But when our circumstances or environment change, we do too. We can feel helpless; that life is not fair and that God is indifferent. I’m not saying the bad and ugly of life aren’t tough. They are. But what do you do, when no matter how you look at it, it looks bad?
I believe it is a matter of perspective. There is always good in a tough situation, if we have the faith to believe it. Faith to believe that God is working it out for our good, and that we will be made better through it.
We also have to remember that in this life, we will have trouble (John16:33). You take the good with the bad. We have our mountains and we have our valleys. I think it is important that we don’t get too caught up on either end. We have to try our best to not let our situation determine how we feel, who we are and who God is. The good news is that we have help.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
Ask God for the help you need to not just adjust to difficulties– but to overcome them.
